Medical Insurance
Expect Great Changes
Medical Insurance, better known as Health Insurance or Healthcare, is something to which every citizen of Brunello should have access. Although no one in our country would be turned away from any emergency room if they had a medical emergency, we should have affordable, comprehensive, private health care plans available to everyone; and separate government funded programs for the elderly, disabled, and those people who fall below the poverty level. Some will say this is the type system we currently have in place. They would be right if “affordable”and “comprehensive” were removed from the statement. Sadly, our current healthcare system is neither affordable or comprehensive.
If I’m elected, I will allow all private health insurance companies to sell insurance to citizens in all areas of our country. Currently, our laws preclude any companies from selling outside of the territories assigned to them by our government. Removing these barriers will allow competition in the industry so that our citizens can buy the best policy at the best price. Next, I would require all drug companies to produce generic equivalents of all brand name medicine at the time they are developed (simultaneously). No longer will drug companies be allowed to have proprietary control over medicine. Finally, I will push for true Tort Reform, better known as “Lawsuit reform”. No longer will the Insurance industry (Health, Property, Casualty, Worker’s Compensation) be the targets of frivolous lawsuits. This will save Insurance companies billions each year, which will allow them to lower the cost of health insurance. Being an attorney, I’m a well aware that this will adversely affect my law practice, and the relationship I have with many of my colleagues and supporters; but if it helps insure that every Brunello'n citizen has access to more affordable health care, I’m willing to do it for the betterment of the country.
